[Hospitable Room] 1st Project Progress
Chris Allick and I have been brainstorming about ways to combine our ideas (his: exploration/time-based game, mine: imagination and pretend to be another character, possibly animal), and we came up with a hybrid fantasy game.
The overall concept is that you get to design a character, much like you design a Mii on Nintendo Wii, then you take that character through various scenarios. In our first version, the user will design a character by putting together various animal body parts (dolphin tail, penguin flippers, tiger head, etc.).

This character then gets to explore a cave. The cave begins dark, and as the character explores the environment, he or she discovers different items that will help them (candles, flashlights, other survival items). Right now we have the code working by just using the mouse, where moving the mouse around the screen allows a small portion to be illuminated. We will enable tracking of a bright light, so the user can actually use a flashlight or headlamp as a controller. Chris wrote an XML file to hold the data from the image. A screenshot:
